KEDARKANATHA WINTER TREKKING TOUR
INTRODUCTION
Kedarkantha is a mountain peak of the Himalayas located in Uttarakhand, India, with an elevation of 12,500 ft. It lies within the Govind Wildlife Sanctuary in the Uttarkashi district. The trek to Kedarkantha usually begins from Sankri, a small village, and takes around four days to complete.
According to local legend, Lord Shiva once meditated at the summit of Kedarkantha but was disturbed by a bull moving below. He then moved to Kedarnath to continue his meditation. Another myth connects the place with the Pandavas, who journeyed to the Himalayas seeking the blessings of Lord Shiva.
Kedarkantha Peak: The name literally means the “throat of Lord Shiva” (Kedar refers to Lord Shiva and Kantha means throat). Lord Shiva is known as the destroyer of the universe who recreates it again.
Kedarkantha is considered one of the finest moderate treks in Uttarakhand, known for its magnificent trails, scenic beauty and rich flora and fauna. The experience is so captivating that it leaves a lasting impression on trekkers. However, it is important to choose experienced tour operators for a safe and enjoyable trek.
