INTRODUCTION

Mussoorie is known as the “Queen of Hills” and is one of the most popular hill stations in India. It is also referred to as a peaceful abode surrounded by natural beauty. Mussoorie experiences a typical subtropical highland climate (Köppen Cwb) found in mid-altitude Himalayan regions. Summers are warm and receive heavy rainfall, especially in July and August, due to monsoon winds. The pre-monsoon months of April and May are warm and generally dry, followed by heavy rains from mid-June. The post-monsoon season is clear and cooler.

In winter, Mussoorie experiences cool weather with occasional snowfall during December, January and February, although snowfall has decreased in recent years due to environmental changes. During the months from October to February, the town also witnesses the unique “winterline” phenomenon, where a distinct line appears in the sky during sunset.
